The shop
Bennett Forgeworks, Ridgway, Colorado
Twenty-seven years of custom architectural ironwork, designed, forged and fabricated at the north end of the San Juan mountains for the homes of Telluride, Mountain Village and the Western Slope.

Tom Bennett
Tom Bennett has forged and fabricated ironwork for the finest homes on the Western Slope for twenty-seven years. The shop he built in Ridgway takes on the whole of a home, from the gate at the drive to the hardware on the last door, and the work is known well enough in Telluride and Mountain Village that it arrives by word of mouth.
Our crew of talented and friendly fabricators are adept at working on new construction projects as well as inside finished homes. With each commission we work closely with the customer to refine a design that results in genuine satisfaction, whether the customer is a builder, an architect, an interior designer or the owner.
The two halves of the shop
Forgework and fabrication
Forgework
Iron heated and shaped at the anvil: gates, railings, fireplace doors and screens, hardware, light fixtures, exterior rails and fences. The marks of the hammer stay in the metal.
Fabrication
Steel cut, formed and welded to the architect's drawing: doors, stairs and railings, structural and architectural steel, furniture, kitchens, paneling and floors. Finished to the hand.
One standard
The same crew does both. Attention to detail, a design refined with the customer, and a piece that holds under fifty winters and a crowd.

Where the work goes
From the shop door to the view
We work and play on the north end of the San Juan mountains. The shop is at 669 N Cora Street in Ridgway. The work goes up the valley and over the passes.
